About Us

The Southeast Kansas Humane Society of Crawford County, Kansas began operation in 1973. Its purpose is to shelter homeless and abused animals, operate a progressive adoption program, investigate abuse cases, and encourage the spay/neutering of animals in order to control overpopulation.

The Southeast Kansas Humane Society is a non-profit organization with a 501C tax status. It has a membership of approximately 300. The Society is governed by a nine member board with terms rotating every three years.

Approximately 1500 animals a year pass through the shelter gates. The shelter is usually at capacity with approximately 90 dogs and 30 cats awaiting homes.

The adoption fee for dogs and puppies is $50 and $35 for cats and kittens. All animals have received their first basic shots, have been wormed, and spay/neutered.
